Dr Andrew Sax
Clinical Lead, General Practitioner"What patients need is someone thinking about the whole journey: the medicine, the lifestyle change it makes room for, and the risk of regain, managed together from day one."
What Andrew is accountable for
Andrew holds the medical side of every Anova program. He sets the clinical protocols, the prescribing standard and the escalation rules, reviews the clinical decisions the care team makes, and is the clinician your GP hears from when there is something they need to know. Nothing clinical happens at Anova that he has not designed or signed.
Training and background
Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the postgraduate standard for general practice in Australia, reached through college examination after years of supervised clinical training. He holds an MD and an MPhil, and came to medicine through exercise physiology.
That order matters. A clinician who studied how bodies move and adapt before studying how to prescribe treats muscle, strength and function as central to weight care, not an afterthought. It is why an Anova program measures what you keep, not only what you lose.
How he practises at Anova
Every prescription at Anova follows a real consultation, and every program runs the medical and the behavioural together. Andrew works alongside Natalie Turvey, who wrote the method, so the clinical plan and the behavioural plan are built against each other rather than in separate rooms. Your own GP stays at the centre of your care, kept in the loop with your consent at every significant step.
