What Anova is
Anova is an Australian medical weight management program. It pairs medical care from an Anova GP with a structured behaviour program led by a psychologist.
The medicine creates a window of reduced appetite. The program builds the habits that hold the weight off when the medicine eventually stops.
Everything happens by video. Your care team is a doctor (prescriber), a psychologist (Method clinician), and the Anova Care team. Your GP stays in the loop at every step.
Why medication alone does not hold
The medicine works while you take it. In the clinical trials, people who stopped without a structured program behind them regained [figure pending clinical sign-off] of the weight within a year.
The behaviour change is what makes it last. The program is designed around this: use the time the medicine buys you to change the patterns underneath.
What the program actually is
In the first month, the focus is medical. Your doctor reviews your history, orders bloods, and sets up your monitoring. You start the Discover phase in the app, a whole-person snapshot that becomes your map.
From month two, the behavioural program starts when weight loss starts, and we tell you when. You work with a psychologist through structured sessions, each paired with a step in the app.
Three plans guide the program. Anova Medical covers the medical treatment, clinical reviews, bloods and monitoring. Anova Complete adds the full behaviour program with psychology. Anova Maintain is for people who have reached their goal and want structured support to keep it. Prices are on our pricing page.
Your first consult
Your first consult is a 30-minute video call with one of our doctors. They go through your history, explain whether medication is right for you and which one, and set out the program. You leave with three clear next steps.
There is no commitment beyond this consult. If you decide to go ahead, your doctor explains the subscription and we confirm it in writing before anything is charged.
What it costs
The first consult is a one-off fee. After that, the program is a monthly subscription. Medication is bought from your pharmacy and is separate; your doctor quotes the cost before you start.
There is no lock-in. You can pause or cancel any time from the app. Full pricing is on our pricing page.
Your GP
We work with your GP, not instead of them. If you consent, we write to your GP after your first consult and at key milestones.
Your GP can send us a patient (a short form on our site, or a letter), or you can come to us directly.
If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, it may partly cover the psychology sessions through Medicare.
Your information
Your information is stored securely in Australia. We use it for your care and to improve the service. We do not sell it.
You can access your record, correct it, or withdraw consent at any time. If you do not proceed after the screen, your information is deleted.

Stopping
You can stop at any time. Cancel from the app, no lock-in, no exit fee. Your doctor will advise on how to taper your medication safely.
We send a handover letter to your GP. Your Protect plan, your Map, and your history stay in the app if you decide to come back.
