Help with the cost of your behavioural method sessions
Sessions with our Anova behavioural method clinicians may attract a Medicare rebate, or be funded by the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Whether yours can depends on your situation, and on the clinician you see. We can help you coordinate with your own GP, and manage the Medicare rebate process with you.
Medicare: Mental Health Treatment Plans
A Mental Health Treatment Plan is prepared by your own GP when you have a mental health condition that the right support can help with, such as anxiety, depression or difficulties with eating. Whether a plan is right for you is your GP's decision.
- Your GP gives you the plan and a referral. We can help you coordinate this with your GP.
- Up to 10 sessions each calendar year can attract a rebate, counted across every mental health provider you see.
- We manage the rebate process with you.
Veterans: mental health care through DVA
If you have served at least one day of continuous full-time service in the Australian Defence Force, you are likely eligible for free mental health treatment through DVA's Non-Liability Health Care. Some reservists are eligible too. The condition doesn't need to be related to your service, and you don't need to make a claim.
- It is accessed with a DVA White Card, or your Gold Card if you already hold one.
- Your GP usually refers you. We can help you coordinate this with your GP.
- Anova supports DVA-funded care. Tell us you are a veteran when you book, and we will set up your sessions with you and your GP.
Questions
Does a rebate cover the whole cost?
Not always. The Medicare rebate is a set amount for each eligible behavioural method session, and it doesn't apply to other parts of your care. DVA-funded mental health treatment is free for eligible veterans.
Can I start without a plan?
Yes. You can start any time at the published prices. If you get a plan and referral later, rebates can apply to sessions from then on.
Are video sessions eligible?
Yes. Behavioural method sessions by video can attract a Medicare rebate in the same way as face-to-face sessions.
